This ring features a 10.775 carat unheated Montana sapphire that I personally cut and finished, set in solid 14k white gold.
Most sapphires on the market are heat treated to improve color and clarity. This one was left exactly as it came from the earth. Instead of forcing it into a standard cut, I worked with its natural structure to bring out what was already there.
The result is a stone with real internal life.
I refer to this approach as a portal cut. The top is faceted, while the body of the stone follows the original contours of the rough. As you move it through light, you don’t just see surface brilliance, you see into it.
The sapphire shows a deep teal to blue body color that shifts depending on its surroundings. It picks up and responds to ambient light rather than staying static.
Inside, natural silk inclusions catch the light and create a soft internal movement. This isn’t the flat, uniform look of a heavily treated stone. It has depth, variation, and character that changes as you wear it.
The setting was designed specifically for this stone. The open gallery allows light to pass through, and the multi-prong structure holds it securely while keeping an organic, slightly rugged feel that matches the cut.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece. I sourced the stone, cut it, and completed all finishing work myself. Only the casting process was outsourced.
