About the Artist

Every piece begins with a stone.

At Enchantment By Design, each gemstone is hand-faceted and every setting is designed around the stone’s natural geometry. This approach guides everything I create. I call it BioMorphe design: jewelry grown around the stone.

I'm Kurt Boyer, the designer and maker behind Enchantment By Design.

I spent 22 years in advanced manufacturing and technical problem-solving, where precision and attention to detail were simply part of the job. That engineering mindset eventually blended with an unexpected passion for gemstones, digital design, and handcrafted jewelry.

For more than a decade, I worked side-by-side with a successful jeweler, learning the realities of the craft from the inside. Those years gave me a front-row view of what makes jewelry meaningful, durable, and worth keeping for a lifetime.

Today I draw on both worlds: the technical discipline of my earlier career and the hands-on creative experience gained in the jewelry studio. I enjoy exploring the synergy between them. 

All of my work is created in my studio in Forest Grove, Oregon. I personally facet each gemstone, design the setting around its natural geometry, and finish every piece by hand before it ships directly from my bench to you.

I cut my own gemstones and design each setting digitally, shaping the metal around the stone’s real geometry. My goal is always the same: to preserve as much of the stone’s natural character as possible while giving it a form that feels intentional and balanced.

Once a design is complete, I work with a professional casting house that brings the metal to life using high-end equipment. After casting, I handle the finishing myself. Cleaning, refining, polishing, and setting each stone by hand until the piece feels right in the hand and on the skin.

Nothing here is mass-produced. Each piece moves through a personal workflow: concept, digital sculpture, fine casting, and final hand finishing. I design my jewelry to be worn daily, built for durability as much as beauty.

I work from my home studio in Oregon with two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels who oversee every step with more enthusiasm than expertise.
